LUCKY LAYOUT(1)Loyalty Programs

Convenience Store Decisions magazine recently designed a Roundtable series to discuss loyalty programs. Their advertisement states, “Savvy retailers have adopted loyalty programs as a method of getting more sales out of their customers. But simply issuing a card, offering some incentive and sitting back to wait for the sales to ring up is not going to deliver good results. You need to design your program with defined success in mind.

For starters, it is important to note that customers respond to loyalty programs. In a recent study, Jupiter Research claims that 75% of consumers are card-carrying members of one program or another. The key to success is not in simply "having" a program, but structuring that program to collect usable data. Success is in the execution of slicing the data collected, and using it to build repeat sales. It's not the data itself, but the trends and actionable insight that will spell success.”

Often overlooked are loyalty programs that do not include cards. Programs such as our Tickets n’ Tools program use a customized scratch-off ticket together with an imprinted Lucky Lotto Ticket Scratcher to build customer loyalty resulting in continuity or repeat business. Whether CSD’s Roundtable is up-to-date enough to include these options isn’t as important as you being aware of the long-term value associated with continuity and loyalty programs that involve promotional incentives. Studies have shown that a program such as Tickets n’ Tools will get the same or better results than a card-based program. And, best of all, a Tickets n’ Tools program usually costs over 75% less than card-based programs. And, furthermore, your customers need not carry another card ... after all our wallets have limited space!

When combined with LeadGen programs, a promotionally based continuity and loyalty program not only retains customer loyalty, but it also increases your customer base.
